Notes
Composed as the soundtrack to an art installation by Lisa Gort shown in the Holden Gallery, Manchester, in 1998. The piece comprised of four 30-foot tall intersecting inflatable chambers laid out in a square formation. The canvas was actually made of thousands of small paper bags (like the ones you buy cream cakes in) and held together with about 100 miles of selotape. Recordings were made of the sounds made by paper bags being ripped. The consequenting piece of music was assembled using these sounds plus a few others recorded at a "Paper Bag Party" that took place on board the Fitzcarraldo theatre ship, moored in Salford Quays. Dancers moved around the inflatable space to the music to complete a strange, yet powerful ensemble.
